There are many different ways you can organize a Formal for your Youth Group, so this page won’t be too prescriptive but instead will give you some ideas and checklists of activities to consider.

Runsheet

Here are some activities that are worth including in your formal run sheet:

• Dinner
• A skit or drama presentation
• Slideshow of photos taken during the year
• Awards
  o To leaders for their efforts during the year
  o Novelty awards – loudest kid, attendance award, etc.
  o For the night only: best dressed, best dancer
• Dancing (to a DJ or band)
• Speeches

Theme

• Traditional formal (ball gowns, black tie, etc.)
• Dress-up (Superheroes, Under-the-sea, 1980’s, 1990’s, Favorited band, etc.)
• Serve the leaders

Other considerations 

• Invitations – prepare and send these out a few weeks in advance
• Decorations – candlelit tables, balloons, and streamers
