Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game

The concept of the Nutstacker Minute to Win It game is simple. You need to stack the metal nuts which are placed on a chopstick on top of each other onto the surface of a table or counter. However, if you try it yourself you will see how difficult it is to accomplish. A word of warning is that this activity needs a steady hand to stay off the caffeine and hopefully you didn’t have a late night last night.

The Nutstacker can be part of the Minute to Win It themed event comprising of numerous minute to win it games. It can also be used as a stand alone activity as part of a Fun Games or Team Building Activity.  

Most of the “Minute to Win It” games including Nutstacker rely on simple rules and a basic set-up. This in turn lulls those playing into a false feeling that the Nutstacker game itself isn’t that difficult.  

The Goal of Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game 

The goal of The Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game is to create a free-standing tower of metal nuts. You need to do this by stacking them on top of the other, however there are some rules you need to consider.

You are only allowed to use one hand to hold the chopstick while stacking the nuts.

The nuts must to be stacked on their sides and they may not be horizontal.

Equipment Needed for Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game 

One chopstick per player

Ten 5/8-inch metal nuts (make sure these are all the same size and shape) per player

One table of any size

A one-minute timer or stopwatch.

Also, please ensure that you do not use plastic novelty chopsticks will not fit through the holes in the nuts.

Setting Up

Start by threading all ten of the nuts onto the chopstick. The chopstick gets placed on the table or surface you are going to use. Get the timer ready.

How to Play the Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game 

  1. The player stands in the front of the table.
  2. Before the game starts, the player must tell the which hand they will be using.
  3. The other hand must always be behind the player.
  4. Start the timer.
  5. The player can now pick up the chopstick and start sliding the nuts off the chopstick only one at a time.
  6. The nuts must be on their sides with the holes visible.
  7. The next nut gets placed on top of the previous nut still facing in the same direction.
  8. Keep going until all ten of the metal nuts are stacked on the counter.
  9. If all 10 nuts are not stacked within the 1 minute the game is not successfully completed.
  10. Whoever get all 10 nuts standing in one minute or less first wins the game.

The Rules of Nutstacker Minute to Win It Game

The rules are simple and here they are:  

  1. You can only hold the chopstick with one of your hands.
  2. You are not allowed to touch the metal nuts during any part of the game.
  3. The tower that you are attempting to build must remain freestanding throughout the game.
  4. The chopstick may not touch the nuts for more than 3 consecutive seconds at any time.
  5. If the tower of nuts falls at any point during the duration of the game, you must start all over from the first nut.

Some useful Tips

Although you have limited time to complete the game, you should not rush the placing of the nuts. Ensure that each nut is properly placed before attempting to movie to the next nut.

It is not a good idea to slide the nuts as this can cause the tower to fall over.
